| Baschenis was an Italian painter that came from a family of painters originally from Averara, Lombardy, Italy mostly specializing in fresco decoration of churches. His fame rests chiefly on his beautifully poised and polished still life's of musical instruments. Most of his works remain in private collections in Bergamo, and rarely reach museums, let alone the art market. The musical instruments in the paintings are often covered in dust, so life like that the spectator feels like reaching for a duster. The Accademia Carrara has the best collection of his paintings. |
